Hey Mambo deep purple in color, this blend shows aromas of warm baking spices (nutmeg, cardamom, cinnamon bark) with gobs of dark black fruit behind it (blackberry, dark cherry, black raspberry). The vanilla aroma comes from American Oak aged portion of the blend and the cocoa/coconut aromas are predominantly from the French oak aged portion of this blend (just about 50/50 on the oak sourcing). On the palate, you first get flavors of ripe blueberry, boysenberry cobbler, dark plum, and wild strawberry. Then the flavors start to change and you get dark cocoa, sweet leather, fresh fig, fermented black bean, and rich toasted oak notes. The finish bounces back and forth between sweet black fruit and dark caramelized oak flavors.

High West Distillery sweet: A straight bourbon whiskey from 75 percent corn, 20 percent rye, and 5 percent barley malt. Spicy and floral: A straight rye whiskey from 95 percent rye and 5 percent barley malt. Smoky: A blended malt Scotch whiskey, made of 100-percent barley malt that has been peated.

We marry the mixture in American oak Bourbon barrels where it rests until it reaches perfection. A complex and strong cocktail with a taste bud inspiring interplay between sweet and bitter. Very satisfying.

Boy howdy, sure does smell like darn good rye whiskey around these parts! Well golly, no wonder it does when there's High West Rendezvous Rye from Utah up in here! With a very high rye content in its mash bill, Rendezvous Rye is an authentic, spicy blend of that makes one heck of a Manhattan as well as being brilliant by itself. Nose: Rustic notes of oak and fruit, a little menthol. Slightly grassy, followed by sweeter notes of toffee and classic vanilla. Palate: Oak spices, pepper and even some chillies. Needles to say, it's rather spicy. Deep inside you'll find a little treasure cove of sweetness, but then it's back to the savoury notes from the nose. Finish: The heat continues from the palate (how could it not?) with fresh oak and tea leaves. Overall: A surprising rye whiskey, unique and very enjoyable.
