  • Elk Cove Mt. Richmond Pinot Noir 750ML

Elk Cove Vintage brings to mind some catchy phrases. The year of the birds - Hitchcock style, let 'em hang and our favorite, and slogan for the vintage - "Hang '10"! Yes, harvest was later than normal. An exceptional cold, wet spring followed by what many seasoned producers recall as one of the shortest summers. However, 2010 was not the worst of years. The 'attack of our feathered friends,' whose almost unprecedented assault on valley fruit, also indicated nature's signal that the fruit was ripe and grapes good indeed. Winemaker, Adam Campbell, comments in response to vintage nervousness, "you know, we have been doing this for almost 40 years, and it's not the first time we've had slow ripening. We're optimistic about it and we know exactly what to do." Even science agrees. Climatologists show similarities to the great 2008 vintage; reporting lower yields, small berries and full flavor development at lower brix levels - all signs pointing to high quality wines with lower alcohols.

  • Eric Kent Grenache Barrel Climber 750ML

Eric Kent we love this wine for its exuberant and pretty perfume of red and black fruits and range of warm Asian spices. Bing cherry, black currant and pomegranate flavors lead to a snappy, lively finish. Almost Pinot-like in color and weight but with Grenache's signature backbone and grip, this will really shine with Mediterranean-inspired foods like grilled, herb-rubbed meats (especially lamb) and veggies, tomato based pasta dishes, and hearty cheeses. Aged in mostly neutral barrels and blended with 9% Las Madres Syrah for added layering and complexity, the Grenache is still a rambunctious youngster. If you must open one now, we recommend decanting it for an hour before you dive in. Otherwise let it rest for a year or two in the cellar and you'll be very pleased indeed!

Unfined and unfiltered, the Eric Kent Rosé has an incredibly dark, hazy appearance, with a deep, dark color that’s reminiscent of cranberry juice. Yet for as heavy an appearance as this wine has, on the palate, the rosé demonstrates an elegant fleshiness with a crisp, bone dry finish. When poured chilled, this rosé offers a generous set of aromas, yet as the temperature begins to warm, even more of the wine’s characteristics begin to reveal themselves: notes of bright red berries and blood orange are suddenly joined by violet flowers, white pepper and a sleek minerality of wet stone.
